So many records were broken in 2024, and the year also saw the youngsters Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz winning the four Grand Slam trophies. Sinner, the eight-time ATP title winner of this season, also ended the season with a 73-6 win-loss record.
The Italian also joined Roger Federer in a rare feat, becoming only the second man in the Open Era to play an entire season without a straight-set defeat. Two of the titles that Sinner won also came with a win over Novak Djokovic (Australian Open semifinals and Shanghai Masters final) and the Serb couldn’t do what he did last year.
When it comes to winning streak, Sinner once again is at the top, not just at the top, but he occupied the second and third positions as well. Following him is Alcaraz with a 12-match winning streak which started from Wimbledon until his defeat to Djokovic in the final of the Paris Olympics.
Alcaraz also had won 12 consecutive matches from the Davis Cup to the Shanghai Masters where he reached the quarterfinals. Just like the Spaniard, World No. 2 Alexander Zverev won 12 matches on the trot (from the Rome Open to the French Open final).
3) Jannik Sinner won 14 consecutive matches
When the hard court season started for the second time, Jannik Sinner again started winning until the China Open. He advanced to the final and faced Carlos Alcaraz who beat him to have a 3-0 win-loss record against the 23-year-old in 2024.
Sinner then was on a roll at the Shanghai Masters as he progressed to the final and didn’t falter even against four-time Shanghai Masters winner Novak Djokovic. The World No. 1 continued his winning ways at the ATP Finals which he played as a first-seed for the first time and which he won as well for the first time.
It was his eighth singles title but that wasn’t all. Sinner extended his winning streak by winning three more matches at the Davis Cup, with his final match of the season being his win over Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, which helped Italy defend their Davis Cup title.
2) Jannik Sinner had a 15-match winning streak
At the Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner lost to Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals. Sinner then didn’t play in the Paris Olympics and started his campaign on the North American hard-court swing. At the Canadian Open, he made it to the quarterfinals but in the next two tournaments he played, he ended up lifting the trophies.
Sinner defeated Frances Tiafoe in the Cincinnati Masters final and Taylor Fritz in the US Open final. He then reached three finals on the trot when he secured a berth in the China Open summit clash but his 15-match winning streak was ended by Alcaraz in three sets.
1) Jannik Sinner tops the list of most winning streak in 2024 (16)
Jannik Sinner kickstarted his campaign on the ATP Tour in 2024 at the Australian Open and won it (his first Major). He was successful in the next tournament he played, the ATP Rotterdam.
Carlos Alcaraz hindered Sinner from extending his winning streak to more than 16 matches in 2024. In the Indian Wells semifinal, Alcaraz went past Sinner in three sets before clinching the title.
