EPL: Tottenham score 4 and prove Roy Keane wrong post his argument with Jamie Redknapp
Bale scoring in first 70 seconds

Tottenham Hotspurs beat Burnley 4-0 in the league game at home on Sunday. This was a much-needed Premier League success following a poor domestic run. Gareth Bale produced his most impressive performance since returning to Tottenham Hotspur with a brace and an assist.

Bale continued his recent resurgence by marking only his third league start of the season with the opening goal after only two minutes, prodding in from close range. In the 15th minute, he provided a beautiful assist for Harry Kane to shoot and make it 2-0. His second goal came in the second half when he deftly curled the ball into the Burnley net beating Nick Pope.

Heated Debate on Sky Sports

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane was involved in a heated debate with ex-Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp live on Sky Sports over the quality at Tottenham Hotspur. Keane insisted they weren’t good enough to compete with the best teams in the league. Redknapp disagreed, saying that the team had some top-quality internationals in it.

Redknapp: “I don’t think it’s an average team, no, or an average squad. It’s full of internationals, there’s a lot of quality in this team, I don’t think they’re playing to their maximum. If you look at the back four, Dier plays for his country, Sanchez plays for Colombia, Lloris plays for the number one country.”

Keane: “Playing for your country doesn’t make you a good player. If you can trap a ball you can play for your country these days. It doesn’t make you a top player. Dier has been giving goals away every week, last week he gave a goal away.”

These were a few of the words exchanged between the two before the match. The victory left Tottenham in the eighth spot with 39 points from 25 games and revived their hopes of finishing in the top four. It might have also given credibility to Redknapp’s argument earlier in the day.
