Even though Travis Kelce was partying in Paris, he kept one ear on what was happening back home in the US. The star tight end was reportedly disappointed to witness the demotion of seasoned analyst and announcer Greg Olsen in favor of rookie Tom Brady.

Following his secret date with Taylor Swift after the conclusion of the pop icon’s Paris leg of the Eras Tour, Travis Kelce sat down with his brother Jason Kelce to record the latest episode of New Heights. They spoke on various topics, including ESPN giving Jason a new deal on Travis’ new horror gig.

They also touched on Tom Brady‘s highly anticipated debut on FOX Sports at the expense of Greg Olsen. The younger Kelce sounded off, claiming that the network was unfair toward one of its better servants.

However, the 34-year-old understood that Olsen was up against a seven-time Super Bowl winner. 

But I mean, it’s Tom Brady; what can you do, right? Sometimes, you just have to do your thing. And Greg does a fu***** tremendous job. He called our Super Bowl game, and he was fu***** fantastic doing that.
Travis Kelce added

Olsen was demoted to FOX’s second team of announcers alongside Joe Davis. The retired NFL player was a mainstay for the network throughout last season, calling plays with Kevin Burkhardt. Brady will now join Burkhardt on Week 1 at Dawg Pound to call the game between the Cleveland Browns and the Dallas Cowboys.

The demotion affected Greg Olsen’s salary

Being part of the second team means he will have fewer prime-time games compared to his previous years. Brady being the more marketable name made the decision easier for the network.

This also affected Olsen’s earnings. When Tom Brady signed a 10-year, $375 million deal with FOX, Olsen knew his salary would plummet, and it did. The Athletic reported that compared to last season, when he earned roughly $10 million a year, in 2024 that will drop to an estimated $3 million.

There were also rumors that the 39-year-old may consider switching networks for a better payday. However, he is staying put while remaining committed to the establishment that gave him his big break back in 2017, when he was still playing for the Carolina Panthers.
