The 2024 season didn’t unfold as expected for the Jacksonville Jaguars and their $55 million quarterback, Trevor Lawrence. Amidst the challenges, Lawrence found solace in welcoming his first child, daughter Shae, with his wife, Marissa Lawrence.
Trevor Lawrence struggled from the get-go. In the middle of the season, he sustained a traumatic brain injury from a hit by Houston Texans’ Azeez Al-Shaair and a shoulder sprain that ultimately placed him on injured reserve.
Now a first-time father, Lawrence is fully embracing parenthood, from diaper duty to cherishing every moment with his newborn. During his appearance on the Up & Adams Show, he shared with Kay Adams how he and Marissa are adjusting to their new roles.
During the interview, Adams asked Lawrence how he’s managing diaper duty while recovering from his shoulder injury. Fortunately, he no longer needs a shoulder sling, which has made things much easier, especially when it comes to holding Shae. With more mobility, he’s fully embracing the responsibilities of fatherhood, including the diaper-changing duties that Marissa has assigned him.
I’m good now. I got out of my sling three weeks ago so I’m starting to be able to do more. Rehab is going well and I can hold her with two hands. I’m on full diaper duty now which is a lot I didn’t realize because I have never changed a diaper before.

He also admitted that diaper duty was alien to him before his wife showed him how to do it. Lawrence expressed that he has since gotten better with it. Despite the difficulties of the past season, he finds immense joy in holding Shae and watching her grow, calling the experience both surreal and rewarding.
Trevor Lawrence is getting on track for the next season with the Jaguars
Trevor Lawrence’s rehabilitation is progressing well as he works toward a return for next season. The Jaguars’ quarterback suffered a shoulder injury in Week 9 against the Eagles and underwent surgery on December 17 to repair an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder.

After spending six weeks in a sling, he is now 10 weeks into recovery and making steady progress. While he still has a long way to go to regain full mobility, he’s feeling much better and is focused on building strength and improving his range of motion.
It’s going well. I got the sling off three weeks ago. I was in it for six weeks, and I’ve been out for three. I’m going on week 10. It’s feeling a lot better. There’s still more work to do—building strength, gaining range of motion—but I’m on my way.

Next season will be a pivotal one for Lawrence and the Jaguars after a disappointing 4-13 finish and a missed playoff berth. Jacksonville has brought in Liam Coen as head coach, banking on his ability to maximize Lawrence’s potential, much like he did with Baker Mayfield last season. However, the team has yet to hire a general manager, leaving questions about its long-term direction.
Trade rumors have already started circulating, with the Steelers emerging as a potential suitor. For now, the Jaguars remain committed to their franchise quarterback, but if he struggles again, especially given his sizable contract, the Jags could reconsider its stance.
