Despite his big contract, Trevor Lawrence faces scrutiny with a 2-7 start and a likely absence against the Vikings due to a shoulder injury, possibly replaced by Mac Jones.

Trevor Lawrence entered the doubtful list for the Jaguars as they prepare to welcome NFC North high-flyers the Minnesota Vikings in week 10. According to reports, Lawrence might miss the Vikings fixture because of a shoulder injury.
The Jaguars decided to reward Lawrence with a lucrative five-year $275 million deal, but ever since signing the paperwork, the former first-overall pick has lost his mojo. Under his leadership, the Jags sit with just two wins from the first nine weeks of football.
In those nine games, Lawrence completed 2,004 yards, 11 touchdowns, and six interceptions, with a completion rate of 61.3% (lowest of his NFL career). The misery seems likely to continue because he will miss the Vikings’ tie.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Lawrence injured his left shoulder in last week’s loss to the Eagles.
As #Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (left shoulder) continues to get treatment and weigh options for the future, sources say he’s considered unlikely to play Sunday vs the #Vikings.

Later, former Jaguars offensive coordinator Jay Gruden increased the heart rate of the Jacksonville residents with a tweet about the Pro Bowl quarterback. Gruden wrote that Lawrence may require surgery, but Rapoport quickly corrected him.
No surgery scheduled, Jay. There are several options immediate and down the road. That's one of them. He's considered day-to-day with a left shoulder.

But as he considers these options, Trevor Lawrence will likely not play Sunday. Mac Jones is the backup. https://t.co/xHnfzRUA1q
Who will replace Trevor Lawrence as the Jaguars starter for the Vikings game?
In Lawrence’s absence, the duties of the quarterback fall onto Mac Jones, whom the Jaguars acquired through trade earlier in 2024. Jones, who was part of the same draft class as Lawrence, has an 18-24 record as a starter in the NFL while playing for the New England Patriots.
Jones hasn’t played in the league since former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick benched him last season. The Jaguars’ head coach Doug Pederson praised the Pro Bowler for his transition from the Patriots’ offense to his.
As for Lawrence, there isn’t a clear date set for his rehab to conclude. However, after the Vikings game, the Jaguars have a bye week, so he will have extra days to recover and return to the starting lineup.
