Despite his undeniable popularity among fans, CM Punk has previously come under scrutiny for his attitude toward his peers. Obviously, his AEW run didn’t do him any favors, leaving the promotion in the most unceremonious way possible. Following his return to WWE, many wondered whether Punk’s presence would cause similar backstage conflicts. However, it has been the exact opposite, as confirmed by Trick Williams.
While speaking on Ten Count Media, Williams revealed his experience working with The Straight Edge Superstar. The current NXT Champion acknowledged the claims of Punk’s negative reputation. But denied rumors of the veteran’s persona of being difficult to work with. In fact, Williams considers Punk one of his “top three favorite” people in the business. Trick Williams then advised people not to believe everything that they hear, alluding to the aforementioned rumors.
Since returning to WWE, Punk has extensively worked behind the scenes with the NXT roster. Moreover, The Second City Saint often visits the Performance Center, where he guides the rising superstars. A few murmurs in the wrestling community suggested that Punk is interested in taking over the developmental brand once he retires.
Other than the NXT roster, CM Punk has reportedly gotten along with the main roster stars as well. Despite his real-life animosity with Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre, all involved parties have set aside their differences to work together on-screen. At the moment, Punk is on hiatus from WWE programming following his brutal Hell in a Cell encounter with McIntyre.
CM Punk feels that he “wasted” some matches in AEW
Speaking of his AEW run, CM Punk recently revealed whether he missed out on telling some untold stories in the company. Punk denied the notion, claiming that he wasted some matches on some people during his tenure.
According to Punk, some wrestlers didn’t understand the business in AEW, while he believes everybody does in WWE. Punk feuded with the likes of MJF and Eddie Kingston, both rivalries that received critical acclaim.
Despite that, many felt that Punk missed out on opportunities to face the likes of Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega. The latter echoed the same thoughts previously, even expressing his desire to have worked with Punk following the infamous “Brawl Out” incident. The Second City Saint was subsequently fired from AEW following another backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In 2023.
