Ben Shelton’s girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, slammed a BBC commentator for repeatedly calling her name wrong and mentioning her estranged father, Dennis Rodman, during Shelton’s match against Lorenzo Sonego at the Wimbledon Championship. Shelton reached his first Wimbledon quarter-finals after beating Sonego in four sets.
During Shelton’s clash with Sonego, BBC commentator Andrew Castle called Trinity Rodman “Tiffany Rodman” when the camera panned to the American star box, where she was seated alongside Shelton’s father. The commentator then added that she was the daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, while revealing some details about her.
That didn’t sit well with Trinity, who was not impressed that referencing her estranged father didn’t have anything to do with Shelton’s clash with Sonego. The Washington Spirit forward has been seen in Shelton’s box since the start of the Wimbledon Championship as she has been supporting her boyfriend at the tournament.
She took to her Instagram story to slam the BBC commentator, revealing that too much attention was given to her rather than the match. The 23-year-old added that she doesn’t want her father to be mentioned in her life:
For those who don’t know… my name is TRINITY, not Tiffany. Also, for Ben’s matches, he has his family there as his support system, which includes his dad. My dad’s not even in MY life. No need to bring him up during HIS matches when I don’t even want him talked about during mine. It’s his and his loved ones’ moment. Thank you.

Trinity Rodman has on several occasions pointed out that she doesn’t want to have anything to do with her father Dennis Rodman. She has been open about her complicated relationship with him and has revealed his struggles with alcoholism. The Olympic gold medalist said on the Call Her Daddy podcast: “He’s not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else.”
Dennis, who is known as one of the greatest defensive players to ever grace the Basketball court retired at the age of 39 in the middle of the 1999-2000 season. The American star became famous when he joined forces with Michael Jordan to win numerous titles for the Chicago Bulls.
Ben Shelton reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals after beating Lorenzo Sonego
Ben Shelton has become one of the players known for playing his best tennis in Grand Slam tournaments. Since making a name for himself at the 2022 US Open, he has gone on to reach the second week of all four Grand Slam tournaments. At Wimbledon, he produced an excellent display to reach the quarter-finals.

The World No.10 lost the first set against Lorenzo Sonego during their fourth-round clash, but turned the match around with time to win 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (1), 7-5 to reach the last eight of Wimbledon for the first time in his career. When asked why he loves playing his best tennis in Grand Slam tournaments, he revealed that he loves the big stages:
I play best at the majors. Probably part atmosphere. I love playing on the big stages. I love playing the big matches. I love competing in front of big crowds. It’s just everything about it is special for me. It makes it the most fun. I love the long format. I think it helps me find my best tennis. I find myself playing better and better as the sets and matches go on. I think all those things accumulate to me having my best results at Slams.
Shelton will now face Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon. Sinner advanced to this stage of the tournament after Grigor Dimitrov retired after suffering a pectoral muscle injury while hitting an ace. Sinner holds a 5-1 lead in their head-to-head record, and he’s the favorite to win the clash.
