At Bad Blood, Cody Rhodes set aside his differences with Roman Reigns to defeat The Bloodline. Although the duo showed a mutual sign of respect after the bout, there was one person in particular who wasn’t happy with that. Kevin Owens unleashed a hellacious assault on his friend after the show went off the air. Almost 24 hours removed from Bad Blood, Triple H finally broke his silence on the incident.

The WWE CCO took to X to acknowledge the parking lot altercation between the two top stars. Furthermore, Triple H revealed that the matter is currently being investigated internally. While Hunter was speaking to the press last night, Owens confronted and attacked Rhodes. Different angles of fan footage showed that KO and Cody had a heated argument following the event.

After a while, The Prizefighter finally snapped and unleashed his anger on The American Nightmare. Security officials separated Owens from Cody Rhodes as the former drove out of the parking lot in a Lamborghini.

When the Undisputed WWE Champion joined forces with Reigns, KO did not take it too well. The Canadian star felt that he had been stabbed in the back by his longtime friend. After all, the two had fought alongside each other to combat Reigns and his Bloodline for years. Moreover, The OTC had made Kevin Owens‘ life a living hell since his character reinvention.

Despite Randy Orton‘s attempts to defuse the situation, the former Universal Champion simply had enough. This feeling intensified upon witnessing the final images of Rhodes standing next to the Head of the Table at Bad Blood.

Why Kevin Owens’ heel turn on Cody Rhodes took place off screen

As mentioned, not many would have expected the inevitable heel turn from Kevin Owens to have taken place off screen. A betrayal of this magnitude would’ve been kept for a deafening angle on a SmackDown episode. So, the question remains: Why did WWE pull the trigger in such a manner?

Most likely, the company felt that generating buzz through social media and fans might’ve added to the authenticity of the betrayal. In addition to that, WWE could’ve executed this heel turn to avoid a repetitive angle of KO turning on yet another friend.

Having turned on the likes of Sami Zayn, Kofi Kingston, and Chris Jericho, many are well aware of Owens’ past issues. Regardless, it will be interesting to see how Cody Rhodes reacts to the betrayal on the upcoming episode of SmackDown.
