Colby Covington is one of the biggest draws in the UFC welterweight division. The former title contender is well known for his brash nature and on-mic skills. With his deteriorating UFC career, the American fighter has the potential to become a WWE star. As it turns out, the former interim champion is always talking about making a move to Triple H’s organization.
At the age of 36, the American welterweight is currently on his last stint as a professional MMA fighter. On top of that, ‘Chaos’ has lost thrice in his last four title appearances. In a recent Q&A session, Colby Covington gave a positive response for his potential WWE move.
I wanna start really working on my in-ring wrestling and my crowd-pleasing ability…I want to really start perfecting my craft in the WWE, and the wrestling moves, and hope I can make a transition in the next year or two.

UFC CEO Dana White was skeptical about Covington’s future in the promotion. Given the circumstances, it won’t be surprising to see Covington seriously considering a change. From heel personality and ability to do energetic promos, the American fighter has all the parameters to succeed in the wrestling entertainment business.

In the past, top UFC fighters like Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey found great success in WWE. Their popularity, combined with their combat sports pedigree, helped them transition seamlessly into professional wrestling. With the recent collaboration between WWE and UFC, a similar move for Colby Covington could be more achievable than ever.
UFC veteran proposes next fight for Colby Covington
In his last outing, Colby Covington faced Joaquin Buckley in a five-round welterweight clash. Throughout the fight, the young prospect showed incredible dominance and managed to cut open the veteran. As a result, the fight was stopped and the doctors announced Covington unfit for fighting with such a cut.

It wasn’t the octagon return that Covington had imagined and revived an array of criticism from fight fans. According to the fighter, it was a wrong call, and there were chances of his comeback in the later rounds. Nevertheless, going forward, Daniel Cormier believes Covington should fight Michael Chiesa at the TUF 33 Finals.
I have Michael Chiesa on my coaching staff, Chael has Colby Covington. Why don’t they just fight and we just coach them? That is about as close as we would both get to going back in the Octagon. Why don’t those dudes fight each other?

Cormier and Sonnen are the coaches for this year’s TUF, but unlike most other seasons, they won’t fight in the end. As such, the idea of Covington fighting for Chael Sonnen against DC’s teammate Chiesa could be a good match-up. However, it will only depend on whether the ‘Chaos’ likes the idea or not.
