A few hours back, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson took to his socials to make a surprising announcement. The Rock revealed he would be appearing on Friday’s WWE SmackDown episode emanating from New Orleans. More importantly, this news gained traction due to the peculiar timing of his announcement coming on the road to WrestleMania 41.
Adding to the excitement, WWE CCO Triple H dropped an official statement in a press release. The Game hyped up the Hollywood star’s appearance by teasing major implications on the road to the Showcase of Immortals.

Whenever The Rock shows up during this time of the year, chaos has unfolded in WWE, both on and off screen. Last year, the legend returned with the intention of finally squaring off against his cousin, Roman Reigns.
However, his return came at the worst possible timing as Cody Rhodes was close to completing his two-year story. Due to extensive fan backlash, WWE and The Rock decided it was best to pivot. As a result, The Final Boss character was born, and the rest is history.

After competing at WrestleMania XL, The Great One promised he would come back again, sending a warning to Rhodes. In the months that followed, however, the chances of him returning for another bout diminished.
This was further solidified when The Rock returned on the Raw Netflix premiere. During that episode, The People’s Champion buried the hatchet with The American Nightmare. Moreover, he seemingly turned face, to the surprise of the WWE Universe.
Since then, fans have kept their expectations low in regards to The Rock’s participation at this year’s WrestleMania. Taking that into account, it will be interesting to see what The Brahma Bull has to say on the upcoming episode of SmackDown.
The Rock’s recent social media post ignites speculation regarding in-ring return
Following his shocking announcement, wrestling fans began speculating as to whether The Rock could be returning for another match. The online rumors were further sparked by a video that The Final Boss posted on his Instagram yesterday.
In a two-minute video, the Hollywood star claimed that he had kickstarted his journey to doing something that he had postponed for quite a while. Although The Great One didn’t specify what he was referring to, wrestling fans believe he might’ve alluded to his dream match against Roman Reigns.

After all, this has been a match that WWE has teased for over a decade. A WrestleMania program between two of the greatest Samoans to ever step foot inside a squared circle speaks for itself. As such, this clip has somehow reignited fans’ hopes for The Rock’s participation at this year’s spectacle.
