Tyreek Hill ended up in a lot of people’s bad books by suddenly demanding to be let go by the Miami Dolphins on the final day of the 2024 season. One of them was former NFL defensive back Ryan Clark.
Clark wasn’t happy with Hill’s attitude. From his point of view, it was irresponsible for a leader figure in the locker room to abandon their teammates in the middle of a game and later ask to be released because the season did not go the way he had planned.
Hill learned about Clark’s words from his mother, who forwarded his messages and videos to him. For the most part, the 30-year-old star receiver agreed with Clark’s words, but he also thought that the former Steeler was talking trash.
During a segment of the Pivot podcast, Clark reminded Hill that his attitude doesn’t mirror that of a leader, and he wasn’t afraid to say that to the Super Bowl winner’s face.
Here’s what I said about you, ‘When you go into the locker room and you say what you said that’s not leadership…’ And I will say that to your face. I am never gonna say anything about y’all that I wouldn’t say in front of y’all because I know I paint a certain picture.
Ryan Clark said
If you say it with your chest on TV you better be able to say it to the athlete’s face. @cheetah took issue with some of my criticism of him following his locker room comments after a loss to the @nyjets, & he let me know about it on the @EAMaddenNFL blue carpet!

Hill wasn’t happy with his and the Dolphins’ performances during the 2024 season. After posting back-to-back 1700+ seasons, he failed to cross the 1000 receiving yards threshold. Hill said the experience was foreign to him, and he asked to be traded.

If it were any other player in Hill’s situation, then the discussion wouldn’t have dragged on for this long. It’s because the person in question is Hill, that Clark was so unhappy with the way he acted.

The younger generation looks up to the 8x Pro Bowler who, despite playing for a Division II team, is arguably a top-five receiver in football. If he flips out, it sets a bad precedent.
I am a pro player all the time, but in that situation, you are a leader, right? People look at you for not only for what you do in Miami or what you do overall… You are better in my opinion.
Ryan Clark added
Hill had calmed down by this point. He recently committed to play for the Dolphins, and with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in full health, he may pose a great threat to the AFC once more.
