Tua Tagovailoa’s contract situation with the Miami Dolphins is no different than many other players. And following a similar path as well, the quarterback, as well, has missed the offseason program. However, the level of criticism Tagovailoa has been facing certainly feels unreasonable and so does his teammate Tyreek Hill.
Both Tagoavailoa and the Dolphins intend to sort out a deal ahead of the 2024 NFL season, yet no progress has been made with the negotiations. As a result, the quarterback seems to be leveraging one thing in his control– his participation in the offseason program. He is projected to receive an extension above $50 million annually which many believe is undeserving.

With Tagovailoa’s critics being louder, star wide receiver Hill decided to speak up and called them out for calling the quarterback undeserving of a lucrative extension. He backed his stance by highlighting the keen leadership quality of the Pro Bowler.
For people to sit here and try to discredit Tua and say he’s not deserving of a contract is wild to me. A lot of guys on the team understand his value and understand that we need him. We need his leadership, we need his mindset. The mindset that he brings into each and every week, its there, it’s like Terminator almost, man. I feel like he should be one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league. Obviously, save some room for me.Tyreek Hill said during his recent appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter
Although the Dolphins have not been able to reach a common ground with the quarterback’s contract, NFL Cheetah believes they shouldn’t hesitate in offering him a huge deal.
Tyreek Hill stands by Tua Tagovailoa amid scrutiny
Known for his bold and honest words, the Dolphins’ star receiver has never stepped away from supporting Tagoavailoa, while he lay under intense scrutiny throughout his time in Miami. Hill has often spoken with high praise and respect for the signal-caller, defending him against the world.
During his interview with ESPN, he also highlighted how fans often overlook Tagovailoa’s contribution towards the team’s success, which certainly is odd since he plays a crucial role.

Fans often credit the talented wide receivers and head coach Mike McDaniel for the team’s success, but it’s the quarterback who actually executes those plays and “gets those playmakers the ball” as Hill emphasized claiming a quarterback needs special skill to do so.
