Tyreek Hill remains unfazed by upsurge in WR market despite pending contract negotiations: “Very content with where I’m at right now”

While appearing on ESPN's SportsCenter, Tyreek Hill spoke in length about how the new deals has set the receivers market and whether it will effect his negotiations with the Dolphins for an extension.

Tyreek Hill has complete faith in the Miami Dolphins that they will hear his plea and pay him a handsome check. Judging by the recent surge in the receiver market, one can only predict that Hill will pocket a massive deal.

Over the last couple of months, the receiver market has been set several times. It began with the Lions paying Amon-Ra St. Brown a four-year $120 million deal with $77 million in guaranteed money. The Eagles stepped up their game by tying down AJ Brown to a three-year, $96 million deal ($33 million a year).

However, the Vikings shocked the football world when they announced a four-year, $140 million ($35 million a year) deal for Justin Jefferson, which essentially made him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL.

Tyreek Hill congratulated Jefferson because he deserved it. However, through that post, the 30-year-old tried to attract the attention of the Dolphins front office, more specifically General Manager Chris Grier.

During a recent appearance on SportsCenter, Hill spoke in length about quarterback Tua Tagovailoa getting a new deal. When that ended, it was his turn to spill his side of the story.

I’m just very glad of the position I am in right now. The reason I say that is: I know when it’s time for me to get a deal, the Miami Dolphins will do what’s right. I’m very content with where I’m at right now. My mindset and my focus right now is making sure that I’m able to help this team win it all, win the Super Bowl, and I’m real content with that.

Despite recording 1799 receiving yards from 119 receptions in the regular season, Hill fell flat against the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs. Earlier this year, head coach Mike McDaniel called the veteran playmaker out, asking for results worthy of how much they were paying him.

Tyreek Hill isn’t concerned about the money

The 9-time Pro Bowler signed a four-year, $120 million deal when joining the Dolphins back in 2022. However, in reality, that isn’t true because of the inflated $45 million that he will earn in the final year of his contract. As it stands, that will likely be removed if there’s a new deal. So basically, Hill earns $25 million a year, not the reported $30 million.

In Hill’s eyes, however, the money isn’t much of a deal.

I’m going into year nine now. Money is the least of our worries. The biggest thing right now is to be able to grab onto something that we can hold onto for the rest of our lives, as a brotherhood, as a fan base, [and ]as an organization. If we’re able to do that, I’ll be happy.
Tyreek Hill added

Even if he says that, it’s a well-known fact that his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, started speaking with Grier as soon as the Super Bowl in Vegas ended earlier this year. More importantly, he needs the money to take care of his 11 kids.
