Tyreek Hill, promptly known as the NFL’s Cheetah, wasn’t kidding when he claimed that he could defeat the Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles in a race. Amid the ongoing verbal battle between the two, the star wide receiver is ready to take the matter further.
After listening to the Miami Dolphins’ wideout bold claim of defeating Lyles, the 100m gold medalist accepted the challenge and asked him to meet on the track. And if there’s one thing that Hill isn’t afraid of is a worthy competition to prove his supremacy.
Hill responded to Lyles by asking him to sign a contract for the race and get ready to meet the receiver for a 50-yard race. The track athlete made history at the Paris Olympics this year by becoming the first American sprinter to win 100m in two decades. This earned him the unofficial title of the “fastest man in the world,” however the eight-time Pro Bowler took it as a challenge with his “Cheetah” title under threat.
Sign the contract and lock in that 50 yard race ….Tyreek Hill wrote on X
But that wasn’t the only reason Hill asserted that he could defeat the six-time world champion. He was actually upset with Lyles over questioning the ‘World Champion’ title of the NBA players when the game is limited to the United States only.
Unfortunately, preparing for the exciting race isn’t the only thing on Hill’s to-do list as the 2024 NFL regular season is less than a month away, and given how the last season ended for the Dolphins, it might weaken their confidence if they didn’t succeed with a victory in week 1.
Noah Lyles favored to outrun Tyreek Hill in potential showdown
Even though Hill is famous for his exceptional speed in the league with a top speed of 22.01 miles per hour, Lyles is the favorite to win the 50-yard race. A fellow Olympian sprinter Rai Benjamin boldly asserted his argument of picking the latter to outrun the former.
I'm tired of the Noah Lyles slander. That's my guy. Tyreek you're not beating Noah in the 100 man. There's just no way in hell. You probably won't even beat the top collegiate guys.Rai Benjamin said during his appearance on the Nightcap podcast
If there’s anyone considered to have the potential to surpass the legendary sprinter, Usain Bolt’s world record, it’s Lyles. Regardless of how fast the NFL’s top receiver is, the fact that Lyles fell short of Bolt’s ultimate world record in the 100m race by just 21 seconds.
