The rivalry between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will reach its peak in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Boxing fans have been waiting for this match for over a year and the stakes are sky-high. The nature of this fight is expected to be deadly since both fighters are top heavyweights and remain undefeated. Surprisingly, one night before the fight, Fury decided to purchase a signed replica of Usyk’s boxing shorts.

Turki Alalshikh, the man in charge of the ‘Ring of Fire’ fight card, held a charity auction just before the weigh-in in Riyadh. The event was to mark and celebrate the historic clash that Alalshikh had arranged between the heavyweight titans. In the auction, the Ukrainian fighter’s signed replica shorts from his fight against Murat Gassiev were also purchased. In the 2018 fight, Usyk defeated Gassiev via points.

Both Fury and Usyk were at the event and the former paid $10,000 to purchase the replica shorts, according to boxing reporter, Michael Benson. While it was a part of the spirit of the event, Fury buying the shorts can also be interpreted as a sign of respect or mind games that both fighters have been engaging in.

Furthermore, the fight is a big deal for the boxing world and to commemorate it, Alalshikh has left no stone unturned. As such, in this very auction, he brought in a major limited-edition timepiece related to the fight.

The watch design has been inspired by the undisputed heavyweight fight and was named the ‘Ring of Fire’ limited edition timepiece. Furthermore, the “Ring of Fire” is a 50mm rose gold timepiece and is inspired by the Astronomia Art collection. The detail of the watch is visible from every angle and Tyson Fury and Usyk can also be seen in this timepiece.

Subsequently, the watch went up for auction with the help of Sotheby’s, and it was sold for $800k. The money raised is reported to be donated to Make-A-Wish International which grants wishes to children suffering from illnesses. The gesture speaks volumes about how important this event is in the world of boxing.
