UEFA Champions League: Chelsea vs Lille Player Ratings as Blues win at home by 2 goals

Chelsea vs Lille:  Chelsea squared off against Lille at the Stamford Bridge Stadium in the ongoing edition of the UEFA Champions League round of sixteen.

Chelsea defeated Lille 2-0. Chelsea started off the scoring as Kai Havertz headed the ball into the back of the net in the 8th minute. N’golo Kante then played in Christian Pulisic with a beautiful ball and the American international doubled the scoreline.

Andreas Christensen(6.5/10)- A good defensive performance from Andreas Christensen. He was stable on the ball and good in possession.

Cesar Azpilicueta(6.5/10)- The veteran defender started at right fullback Today. He created a great opportunity to score for Kai Havertz whose shot was over.

Marcos Alonso(6.5/10)- The Spanish international had a wonderful opportunity to double the lead for Chelsea. Kante plays him in acres of space but he’s unable to beat the goalkeeper.

N’golo Kante(7.5/10)- N’golo Kante was good in the middle of the park. He created a great opportunity for Marcos Alonso whose shot was saved and also got the assist for Christian Pulisic’s goal.

Matteo Kovacic(5/10)- A disappointing evening for Matteo Kovacic. He was injured and replaced by Ruben Loftus Cheek.

Christian Pulisic(7.5/10)- The American international started off extremely brightly in the game. He even dribbled past Lille defenders to set up Kai Havertz. He reaped the rewards after scoring Chelsea’s second.

Kai Havertz(8/10)- The German international got on the scoresheet again for Chelsea this time scoring from a header in the initial minutes of the match.

Hakim Ziyech(7/10)- Another good performance from the Moroccan international today. He delivered a fine cross into the box for Kai Havertz to score.

Léo Jardim (5/10): The Brazilian shot-stopper had a decent night as he made some crucial. stops. However, he’d be disappointed he did not receive much held from his defenders.

Sven Botman (5.5/10): Botman looked lively and up to the pace against the likes of Havertz and Ziyech. He also showed his aerial presence while dealing with crosses.

José Fonte (6.5/10: The veteran Portuguese defender showed his class, as he marshalled his defensive line pretty well.

Tiago Djaló (6/10): The left-back struggled to deal with the attacking combination of Ziyech and Azpilicueta down his flank and left wide open spaces on defence.

Amadou Onana (6/10): The attacking midfielder did not have much of an impact on Lille’s attacks. He was rightly replaced after the first hour.
