Barca and Juve played a hugely entertaining first half with both sides getting ample opportunities. Barcelona went close in the opening two minutes as Griezmann hit the post. Barca made their pressure count by getting the first goal through Dembele who controlled a superb pass from Messi and got the goal through a deflection. This was followed by both sides going close to getting the next goal with Morata having two goals ruled out for offside. Messi missed a golden opportunity from a superb one two with Griezmann as he flashed his shot wide.

Second Half

Juve were determined to get back in the game and scored through Morata but he was once again judged to be offside. Koeman sent on Fati for dembele as he looked to put the game to bed. However, Juve hopes were dashed as Demiral got sent off for a challenge on Pjanic. Messi wrapped up the game and made it 2-0 with a penalty as Fati was brought down in the box.

Koeman speaking on the board room issue said, “I think we have to concentrate on the sporting side. It doesn’t affect us and it doesn’t worry me. We put our energy into football.” Barcelona president, Bartomeu finally resigned prior to the match and the players put in a wonderful performance to kickstart the new era. Now, the hope is that Barcelona will be able to win the treble this season after a turbulent season last year.
