UFC 256 main event Amanda Nunes vs Megan Anderson fight scrapped
Amanda Nunes and Megan Anderson’s fight has been pulled from the card on Dev. 12. UFC double champion Amanda Nunes has been forced to withdraw from her planned featherweight title defense against Megan Anderson at UFC 256.
The fight was expected to be Amanda Nunes’s second title defense in the 145lbs division. Amanda Nunes’ first defense came at UFC 250 where she defeated Felicia Spencer.UFC has not yet released a statement about UFC 256, the news was confirmed by Brett Okamoto and Megan Anderson herself about the injury.

Anderson wished the champion a “speedy recovery” and announced that the promotion is rescheduling the fight to be rebooked in early 2021.
“Wishing Amanda a speedy recovery,” Anderson wrote. “UFC are rescheduling the bout for a date early next year. The goal remains the same. We’ll be ready.”
After knocking out Cris Cyborg to become a two-division UFC champion, Nunes was looking to make the second straight defense of her featherweight title. Nunes’s first title defense was against Felicia Spencer back in June for her 145-pound championship. It looks like Nunes will have to wait until next year to book her next fight with Anderson already champing at the bit for a new date.
Although on announcement has been made for the UFC 256, The card was already promoting a pair of title fights with bantamweight champion Petr Yan facing off with Aljamain Sterling in the co-main event. UFC could shift gears and make Yan vs Sterling the new main event.
