Beneil Dariush vs Tony Ferguson was the co main event of UFC 262, and Tony was a big fan favorite moving into the fight and everybody was hoping that he would turn out his two-fight skid in this one, but unfortunately, he came up short.

Tony Ferguson started training with Freddie Roach to change his approach and avoid getting hit, well he was doing this bit well at the beginning of the fight but once Beneil Dariush chooses his offensive grappling it was all him throughout the fight.

There was a moment in the fight where Beneil caught Tony in a tight knee bar, and it was really brutal Tony was clearly in pain but he didn’t tap, Beneil was shocked and he let him go. This was a reminiscence of Tony’s fight against Chales Oliveira.

After the fight, he was asked about what exactly happened, he said, “I heard ap pop, I looked at him (Tony looked like he was in pain) and then he was normal and he starts kicking me, Tony’s not human, and I thought to myself I’m gonna squeeze it a little more if he taps, he taps if not its whatever we move forward.”

Houston, Texas was the host for UFC 262, and fans over there loved Tony Ferguson and it was clear when he made his walk inside the octagon, the atmosphere there was electric and it was followed by constant boos to Beneil, but he truly believes Tony deserves all that love.

He said, “Tony deserves all of it, look at his career man one of the best lightweights ever, he deserves every bit of it, he deserves that chant he deserve that love.”

“I just hope the same fans that screamed Tony so loud you better not be fickle, you better be a Tony fan till the day Tony is gone. I better not see a boo when Tony walks out, you better cheer for him for the rest of his career, because if not you’re a fickle, and you don’t deserve to be a Tony fan.”
