“I’ll go in there and put on one hell of a performance,” Conor McGregor sends a stern warning to Dustin Poirier ahead of their trilogy at UFC 264
McGregor and Poirier
The former UFC two-division champion, Conor McGregor will be stepping inside the Octagon second time his year to face the number one ranked Lightweight fighter, Dustin Poirier in the biggest pay-per-view of this year, UFC 264.
This trilogy will settle the score between McGregor and Poirier, as they both are standing on 1-1 TKO victories against each other. Along with this, the stakes are also very high that the winner of this match will be the number one contender to face the newly crowned Lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira.
McGregor’s arch-rival, Nate Diaz also made his comeback inside the Octagon at UFC 263 and he faced a unanimous decision loss against Leon Edwards. Daniel Cormier tipped Nate to fight trilogy against McGregor if he also losses at UFC 264.
But according to ‘The Notorious’ losing isn’t an option for him this time and he is only focused on the trilogy against ‘The Diamond’. In his latest interview with Fox Sports, McGregor says,
“All the marbles are on the line, I’m here training very, very hard. I’m about to go for my second session of the day. I’m in great condition already. I beat Poirier in the original bout”
“I lost in the rematch. And then we’ve got the trilogy, I’ve got a few little adjustments to make. I feel very, very confident. I’m very focused and driven. And I’ll go in there and put on one hell of a performance and get it back on July 10th.” {H/T Givemesports}
Conor McGregor’s training partner Artem Lobov also warned Dustin Poirier
Artem Lobov, who is a former training partner of ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor has also warned Dustin Poirier earlier, that he’ll be facing a completely different beast in their trilogy at UFC 264.
Lobov says, “Conor McGregor is a very, very smart fighter. I just feel the last fight he maybe took it a little bit lightly and thought, ‘I’ll just show up and do what I do and destroy him.’”
“But I think now when Conor is switched on, he knows what’s up. His full focus is on this fight. He’s studied him, he looked at what the issues were in the second fight, and honestly when Conor shows up like that? There’s no stopping him.” {H/T Givemesports}
“So I see him stopping Dustin early, first, maybe second round. I want to say first. My prediction is first round but it could go into the second.” The fans are already hyped to see this trilogy and we’re inching closer day by day to witness one of the biggest fights in UFC history.
