Michael Chiesa is more than disappointed with himself after his defeat at UFC 265 to Vicente Luque.

UFC’s rising welterweights Michael Chiesa and Vicente Luque met each other in the octagon at UFC 265 in the main card. The event was held at the Toyota Center in Houston Texas. The Brazilian got the better of Chiesa in the very first round submitting him via D’arce choke. The fight was an absolute stunner for the time it lasted as both the fighters had an amazing scramble on the ground trying to submit the other.

Chiesa was coming into this fight on a four-match winning streak and was very close to becoming a serious title contender should he have won against Luque. He has a record of 18-4-0 in his professional career. Yesterday after his defeat, Chiesa was very shocked and took to social media to talk about this. He posted a note on his Twitter account where he showed massive respect to his opponent.

“I cracked,” says Michael Chiesa in his statement

“I want to jump out in front of this now. First and most importantly, congrats to [Luque], he’s a stone-cold killer and a class act. I look forward to seeing what’s next for him. It was an honor sharing the octagon with him. To say I’m embarrassed is an understatement. Physically I was in the best shape of my life, mentally I was battling myself every single day. I put too much pressure on myself in this fight and I cracked,” wrote Michael.

“Historically throughout my career, every time I have faced adversity and came up short, I’ve turned around and grown tremendously. A couple more wins and I’ll be back in the mix. The goal remains the same, my belief is still just as strong and I love every single person that supports me so much that it hurts.”
