The UFC 266 co-main event features a women’s flyweight title fight between the champ, Valentina Shevchenko and number 3 ranked women’s flyweight Lauren Murphy. Many have tried and failed against the Kyrgyzstani-Peruvian, and hence, as expected Murphy has the odds stacked against her.

Valentina Shevchenko is coming off a TKO win over Jessica Andrade at UFC 261, thereby successfully defending her women’s flyweight title for the fifth time. Lauren Murphy, on the other hand, has been in brilliant form, of late. She is unbeaten in more than three years, on a five-fight winning streak, and is coming off a win over Joanne Calderwood at UFC 263.

Action shifted to the fence after a bit of action in the center of the Octagon. Big left hand from Shevchenko. Counter right hook from the champ followed. Couple of nasty kicks from Shevchenko. Takedown from Shevchenko followed. Splendid ground control from Shevchenko. Elbow strikes from the champ ended the ground. 10-9 Shevchenko

Lauren Murphy no match for Valentina Shevchenko!

Round 3:

Dominant start from Shevchenko. Right hook from the champ followed. Murphy was given no room. Combination from Valentina Shevchenko. 10-9 Shevchenko

Round 4:

Left hand from Shevchenko. The champ slipped amidst a roar from the crowd. Plenty of kicks from Shevchenko followed. Check right hook from Shevchenko got Murphy. She followed it up with a plenty of strikes. Murphy just wouldn’t give up. She hung on. A barrage of elbows from Shevchenko finished Murphy. Yet another dominant win.
