UFC 267: Magomed Ankalaev battered Volkan Oezdemir and got the victory

Magomed Ankalaev (15-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) took on Volkan Oezdemir (17-5 MMA, 5-4 UFC) in a light-heavyweight contest at UFC 267. This fight featured the two most dangerous knockout artists in the entire roster, and after three rounds of one sided domination, Magomed Ankalaev got the victory.

Round 1 – Ankalaev and Oezdemir took to the center of the octagon and immediately started trading shots. Ankalaev swung hard but missed, Volkan landed some punches of his own and forced Magomed to back up a little. Volkan moved forward and landed a couple of strikes that hurt Magomed, Magomed retreated and forced a clinch. Big reset and Magomed looked much better and dropped Volkan with a perfect 1-2 combination, he recovered well and spent the rest of the round at a safe distance. Great start the main card of UFC 267.

Round 2 – Volkan felt Magomed’s power and he started second guessing himself in round number 2. He wasn’t comfortable in standing in range with him, and was fighting from a safe distance. Magomed was looking sharp with his boxing and he landed a couple of strikes that opened up a cut right above his opponent’s eye. Volkan was doing a good job of chopping the legs, and Magomed was forced to resort to his wrestling, he got into the clinch and finished the round strong.

Round 3– Volkan knew he needed a strong last round to get this fight, and he pressed forward as the round started. He started throwing some hands but Magomed fired back, Volkan attempted a takedown but Magomed stuffed it and landed another combination. He kept on fighting with beautiful counters, and Volkan was having a hard time in there. Magomed finished the round strong.

Result – Magomed Ankalaev def. Volkan Oezdemir via unanimous decision
