GLORY two-division champion Alex Pereira is expected to make his debut fight at UFC 268 against Andreas Michailidis
Alex Pereira
GLORY champion Alex Pereira is already in the talks for a fight at UFC 268 and the elite kickboxer is yet to sign a deal with the promotion. Alex is targeted to fight against Andreas Michailidis.
Alex Pereira has been one of the main targets for UFC for the past few years. He is a two-division champion in GLORY. But he is most famously known for being the only fighter to ever knockout the UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Sources closed to the promotion told BJPenn.com that the Brazilian kickboxer might fight in the packed card of UFC 268.
It is known that “Poatan” is likely to sign a deal with the UFC in the coming week after his fight in the Netherlands against Artem Vakhitov. Pereira has already quite the hype built around him given he has KO’d The Last Stylebender. Adding that fighter to the same division as Adesanya makes things more interesting for the fans. There is no doubt people already want to see if he can knock out the middleweight inside the UFC octagon.
Can Alex Pereira beat Andreas Michailidis at UFC 268?
The upcoming pay-per-view fight at the Madison Square Garden is probably the most stacked event of the year. To have an amazing kickboxer like Pereira make his debut on that card is just icing on the cake. Despite his achievements in kickboxing, Alex is just 3-1 in his professional MMA career. He has way less experience than the opponent he is looking to face.
As far as Michailidis is concerned, he has a professional record of 13-4 in his MMA career with two fights in the UFC. He made his debut against Modestaas Bukauskas at UFC Fight Night 172. His debut was a stunning knockout in the very first round. He then fought KB Bhullar on May 2 of this year. With two consecutive wins, he will surely be looking forward to facing someone like Pereira in the UFC.
