UFC 268: Justin Gaethje chooses violence and batters Michael Chandler for three rounds and wins via Unanimous Decision

The opening fight of the UFC 268 fight card features the fight between the former UFC Lightweight title challenger and number 2nd ranked Lightweight fighter, Justin Gaethje facing the one more former UFC Lightweight title challenger and number 4th ranked UFC Lightweight fighter, Michael Chandler.

Gaethje is coming into this fight at UFC 268 with a loss against Khabib Nurmagomedov in his last fight at UFC 254 and Chandler is coming into this fight with a loss against Charles Oliveira in his last fight at UFC 262.

Round 1: Gaethje started the fight with a leg kick and Chandler misses a big combination. He tries to land the combination again and Gaethje lands a hard right hand. Gaethje keeps moving forward and Chandler lands a kick to the leg. They both traded some shots in the pocket, both men fired shots at each other. Gaethje lands a leg kick and Chandler returns the favor with one of his own.

Gaethje’s leg seems hurt and Chandler rocks Gaethje with a right hand. Another leg kick lands from Gaethje followed by one-two and Chandler is busted open. Gaethje lands a right hand and Chandler lands an uppercut. Two straight combinations land for Gaethje and what a first-round it turned out to be.

Round 2: Leg kicks are traded between both to start the round and Chandler lands a body shot. Gaethje returns the favor with a leg kick. He lands a right hand and Gaethje floors Chandler with a right hand. Chandler is hurt and he holds Gaethje with a double leg attempt. Gaethje stands up and Chandler lands an uppercut. Gaethje lands a right hand and Chandler eats it. They both traded again and Chandler wacks Gaethje. The round ended with an eye poke from Chandler.

Round 3: Gaethje starts the round with a leg kick and Chandler changes his stance to southpaw. Gaethje connects with a leg kick and Chandler’s leg was hurt real bad. Chandler lands a one-two and they exchanged again in the pocket. Chandler lifts Gaethje up and slams him on his back. After a brief movement of the ground, they get back up. Chandler stuns Gaethje with a right hand and Gaethje wobbled him with a left. Gaethje eats a massive combination and Chandler started having fun. The round ends and what a fight this turned out to be.

Result: Justin Gaethje def Michael Chandler via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
