The middleweight division in UFC has some problems. Alex Pereira, the former GLORY kickboxing champion has introduced himself to the UFC in style as he opens his account with a stunning flying knee knockout win at UFC 268.
Alex Pereira is a former two-division champion in the kickboxing promotion GLORY. The fighter not only has the two championships to his name but also is the only athlete in the world to knock out the undisputed middleweight champion of the UFC, Israel Adesanya. After several talks about bringing the champion into the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Pereira finally made his debut at the stunning UFC 268.
The Brazilian kickboxer took on Andreas Michailidis in the final fight of the preliminary round. The elite kickboxer won the fight via KO in the second round. Alex took only 18 seconds in the second round to finish his opponent with a stunning flying knee. Twitter exploded into this fight and could not believe their eyes as the debutant rocked his opponent. Despite having only a record of 4-1 in MMA, Pereira lit up the packed arena at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Can Alex Pereira domoinate the middleweight division?
It is very soon to say if he can go on to become a champion in the world’s most competitive MMA organization. The fighter will have to beat the likes of Derek Brunson, Marvin Vettori, Robert Whittaker, and others if he wants to get to the top of the mountain. And not to forget, his former rival, Israel Adesanya. If there is one thing the Izzy fans want to witness is to see their favorite fighter avenge his only KO loss against the Brazilian kickboxer.
We know for sure that Alex is a stunning striker but he is yet to be tested in the area of the ground game. Andreas, his opponent in this fight sure did give him some trouble and managed to keep the former kickboxing champion quiet with his grappling. The fighter has shown great potential in the first fight, the fans are hyped to see the Brazilian continue fighting in the UFC and hope for that dream Adesanya fight.
