“It’s not exactly true”- Sean O’Malley dispels the notion that he picks his fights

Sean O’Malley slams his critics for claiming the fighter picks only easy fights and is scared of fighting the top-ranked bantamweight fighters.

The “Suga Show” Sean O’Malley is one of the most fan-favorite fighters in the bantamweight division. The fighter is scheduled to take on Raulian Paiva at UFC 269 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fighter is set to light up the entire arena as he opens the main card this weekend. Despite O’Malley’s great record in the division, the fighter has been accused of not fighting the toughest guys in the division.

Sean is fighting in the UFC since 2017 and has fought seven bouts winning six of them. O’Malley is yet to be ranked given the bantamweight division is one of the most stacked weight classes in the UFC. In the recent press conference ahead of his fight this weekend, Sean slammed his critics who say he picks his opponents.

O’Malley is yet to fight a ranked opponent in his UFC career and the Suga Show says that is not on him. O’Malley has called out many fighters in the past but has not come close to getting a fight booked with one of them. “I’ve also called out Cody Carbrandt, Pedro Munhoz, Dominick Cruz, Petr Yan. I’ve called out the ranked guys,” said Sean.

O’Malley has a record of 14-1-0 in his entire professional MMA career. The fighter is coming off a stunning win against Kris Moutinho at UFC 264 but O’Malley still has a chip on his shoulder for not fighting one of the top guys. “So it is not necessary, I want to be paid more to fight the ranked guys. At this point it is just like, I have called them out but I haven’t got the fights,” said O’Malley.

“I don’t pick my fights. CLEARLY. If I picked my fights I would be fighting one of them. They offered me, Paiva, I said yes. I think the idea that I pick my fights is not exactly true. I didn’t say ‘hey I wanna fight Paiva’,” continued Sean talking to the media.

Do you think O’Malley could beat a top 10 bantamweight fighter?
