The welterweight scarp between young prospects Trevin Giles (14-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) and Michael Morales (12-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) kickstarted the main card of UFC 270. This was the first PPV of this year, and these two really left it all inside the octagon.

Round 1- Morales started the first with a couple of strong leg kicks, Giles readjusted, and landed a leg kick of his own, Morales tried to counter with a jab with misses. Giles faked a leg kick, and stunned his opponent with a perfectly times straight, he went for clinch almost immediately and got the takedown. He attempted a choke but Morales defended well and got up.

Michael Morales recovered well from the punch, and he started putting pressure on his opponent, Giles was looking for the same punch that stunned his opponent, but Morales adjusted well, and counter it well to stun his opponent. Giles immediately went for the kill, and he dropped Morales with a hook, he followed him on the ground and unleashed a barrage of strikes that forced the referee to stop the fight. Great start to the main card of UFC 270
