UFC 270(Main event): Francis Ngannou shuts down critics, and puts up a masterclass to retain his belt against Ciryl Gane
Francis Ngannou vs Ciryl Gane
The main event of UFC 270 was headlined by the undisputed heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou (16-3 MMA, 11-2 UFC) and interim heavyweight champ, Ciryl Gane (10-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC.) This was the biggest fight of both their careers and the winner was fighting for the title of “baddest man on the planet.”
Round 1- Ngannou got in Gane’s face right away, he chased him with intent to kill but Gane moved well to avoid any significant strike. Gane went for a takedown, got stuffed and he modified it into a clinch, it was a power contest in the clinch, but Gane got out and avoided any significant strike from Ngannou. He kept his distance for the rest of the round, and kept touching Ngannou from the outside.

Round 2- Gane still light on his feet, he was just touching Ngannou from outside and keeping his distance. Ngannou was walking forward but nothing significant landed from him. He was getting impatient, and Gane connected with an amazing front kick that pushed Ngannou back. Gane’s path to victory was clear, and he implementing his gameplan with relative ease.
Round 3 – Ngannou knew he was losing the stand-up battle so he tried to applied some more pressure. Gane was being patient but attempted a big head kick, Ngannou caught the leg and slammed him hard on the mat. Ngannou just held Gane on the ground, he didn’t land anything significant and Gane got up. Ngannou once again got the trip, and finished the round strong.

Round 4- Gane was touching him from outside again, he was popping the jab, and he was touching him with leg kicks. Ngannou powered through and grab a hold of Ngannou. He slammed him down, and Gane got a hold of Kimura, Ngannou powered through and got free. He pushed Gane against the cage, and landed some punches and a knee to finish the round strong.
Round 5 – Gane knew he was losing the battle on the ground so he moved forward with punches, to everyone’s surprise he secured a takedown, and got to a dominant position. Gane was trying to move out of full guard but Ngannou flipped him, and got on top. Gane was trying to create some space, and he went for a leg lock, Big mistake from Gane! Ngannou broke free, and finished the round on top. A great ending to the main event of UFC 270.
