Umar Nurmagomedov vs Brian Kelleher
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s cousin, Umar Nurmagomedov fought the rising prospect, Brian Kelleher at the prelims of UFC 272. Umar had all the attention coming in this fight, and he was coming off from a dominant win against Sergey Morozov, and he planned on maintaining his undefeated record.
Khabib was confident in his team, and he wished them luck with a dedicated post before the fight. Brian wanted something more from this fight, and he knew Khabib would serve in Umar’s corner. He invited Khabib’s arch-nemesis, Conor McGregor to be a part of his corner. Conor never responded to the call-out, and we’re glad that didn’t happen.
The fight started exactly as we expected, Umar and Brian acquired the center of the octagon, and Umar started with a couple of kicks. Brian remained unfazed, and he answered with a kick of his own. Umar was ready to stand and trade with Brian, and he landed another head kick followed by a punch.

Kelleher took some time to get started, and he moved in with a beautiful combination. He grabbed Umar, but he broke the clinch after landing a knee. Umar went for a takedown, but it got stuffed. Kelleher was obviously losing the round, and he got a little impatient. He went in with a reckless combination, and Umar wasted no time taking him down.
Umar had Kelleher fight where he wanted, and he slipped his arm right under the chin, to secure a rear-naked choke. Kellher tried to shake him off, but Umar had him in all sorts of trouble, and Brian had no choice but to tap. Khabib was more than happy with his performance, and Umar secured the biggest win of his UFC career.
