UFC 297 went successfully and the fans got to see an epic showdown between contenders. UFC CEO Dana White graciously gave out the post-fight bonuses amounting closely to $200,000. After UFC 297 in Toronto, Jimmy Flick and Neil Magny missed out on the $50,000 bonuses despite their performances.

The UFC awarded four performance bonuses after the event, including two to the main event title fighters. Middleweight fighters Dricus Du Plessis and Sean Strickland each received $50,000 for their Fight of the Night performance. The other two bonuses went to Jasmine Jasudavicius and Gillian Robertson, the only two Canadian winners on the card. Jasudavicius received the Performance of the Night bonus for her destruction of Cachoeira. Meanwhile, Robertson received her bonus for her submission win over Viana.

Jimmy Flick fought against Malcolm Gordon in the flyweight division at UFC 297. Flick secured an impressive comeback victory. He submitted Gordon with an arm-triangle choke a minute into the second round. This win was significant because he fought out his UFC contract, which he revealed and expressed hope for a new one. Meanwhile, Neil Magny faced Mike Malott at UFC 297 in a welterweight division. Magny secured a last-second TKO victory, improving his professional MMA record to 29-12.

What happened at the UFC 297 main event – Sean Strickland vs Dricus Du Plessis?

Dricus Du Plessis defeated Sean Strickland via split decision in the main event of UFC 297. The fight took place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This was the first UFC event in Toronto since UFC 231 back in 2018.

Du Plessis won the fight via split decision. The fight went the full five rounds and was a bloody battle. Du Plessis opened a cut on the right side of Strickland’s face. He dug into the body and then went back up top to the head. Du Plessis’s left eye had swollen almost completely shut after two rounds.

He came to the post-fight news conference on crutches and with two swollen eyes. Dricus Du Plessis dethroned Sean Strickland in the UFC 297 main event, becoming the new middleweight champion. Judges Derek Cleary and Eric Colon scored the bout 48-47 in favor of Du Plessis, while Sal D’Amato had it 48-47 for Strickland.
