The pre-fight press conference of UFC 300 featured wild moments. Dana White agreed to raise the bonus for the event to $300,000. Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill had somewhat of a heated interaction. Unexpectedly, Aljamain Sterling received applause from the crowd. Even more unexpected was welterweight contender Joaquin Buckley crashing the event.

The 29-year-old recently entered the welterweight rankings after his TKO victory over Vicente Luque at UFC Atlantic City. He wants to headline the UFC Fight Night card in St. Louis next month. Buckley was also the last person to ask the question before the fighters faced off.

Joaquin Buckley has become somewhat of a favorite after his move down to welterweight, where he is 3-0 with two finishes. He had already become an overnight sensation with his scintillating knockout of Impa Kasanganay. However, his stats at middleweight were not great even though he won several fight bonuses.

As of now, Buckley is not on the UFC St. Louis fight card. However, in addition to the main event of Derrick Lewis vs Rodrigo Nascimento, there is an anticipated matchup between Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Robelis Despaigne. Moreover, Tecia Pennington, formerly Torres, will return after a 2-year layoff. Addition of Buckley could boost the fight card.

Sodiq Yusuff and Diego Lopes will open the preliminary card of UFC 300. Yusuff recently landed a role in a Disney series, mainly due to his Nigerian heritage. Against the exciting fighter in Lopes, Yusuff has the chance to grab a $300K bonus.

Interestingly, Yusuff placed an interesting request before White at the press conference. Even though White did not accept the idea, it brought laughter to the faces of fighters on stage.

Speaking for us on the prelims, Dana [White], I think it'll only be fair if we get bonuses for each section of the card. We're all the stars out here, man. You've got to make a prelim bonus, a post-prelim, and then the main card bonus, please.

White did not agree to the terms but provided an apt response to Yusuff, which the fighter obliged.

Even though Yusuff is a ranked fighter, many betting sites have Diego Lopes as the slight favorite. Lopes is coming off two quick first-round finishes and is on a hot streak. Moreover, as the sole Mexican on the card, Lopes will have extra motivation to showcase an exciting fight.
