Diego Lopes just scored his third consecutive first-round victory at UFC 300. After knocking Sodiq Yusuff down a minute into their bout, Lopes quickly rushed to the cage side to greet UFC CEO Dana White and Mark Zuckerberg. With a clean strike as such Lopes could be well in line for the coveted $300K performance bonus.

Diego Lopes and Sodiq Yusuff squared off in their featherweight bout at UFC 300. It has not even been a year since his promotional debut, and Lopes has already stacked up an impressive resume with three back-to-back fights last year. Yusuff got clocked with a clean uppercut and dropped to the canvas. While down, he tried to get hold of Lopes’ legs but Lopes’ ground-and-pound game was strong.

Sodiq Yusuff has much more experience under his belt with a #13 ranking in the featherweight division while UFC 300 was Lopes’ fourth fight in the promotion. Lopes was not afraid to exchange hands at close quarters where he dropped Yusuff once with an elbow. Yusuff got back on his feet that time but it was not for long. Lopes landed that decisive uppercut followed by some strong ground and pound until the referee stepped in, giving Lopes a TKO win.

Now, Lopes’ only loss in the promotion till now was his first fight against Movsar Evloev which he took on short notice. Lopes took the fight to the distance but lost via unanimous decision. But now he is ready to avenge his debut loss as he called out Evloev for a rematch at International Fight Week. He also declared if Evloev did not accept his offer he would seek Ilia Topuria in Spain.
