Chris Weidman snapped a two-fight losing streak in his bout, but it came via controversial eye-pokes. Since the fight happened at UFC Atlantic City, the fighter has faced immense criticism on the internet. During the UFC 300 Morning Weigh-In Show, Daniel Cormier and Laura Sanko took trolling to a whole new level.
In a light-hearted moment, the hosts teased Weidman about the outcome of his recent fight. They all wore goggles of some kind to protect themselves from any eye pokes. As such, Cormier asked Weidman to poke him in the eye just to see if the gadget worked properly. Weidman took the joke well and responded in disbelief.
The audacity of you guys. Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me right now?...Chris Weidman via UFC 300 Wiegh-In show
At UFC Atlantic City, Bruno Silva received four misdirected eye pokes before Weidman won the fight via a technical unanimous decision. Many fans claimed that the fight should have been declared a no-contest instead of awarding a decision win to Weidman.
The American wrestler has already moved on from the controversial situation. However, the UFC Weigh-In Show crew didn’t let it slide. Weidman was in no mood to give up and hilariously retaliated by mocking Daniel Cormier for his towel gate incident. Regardless, Weidman has returned to the win column after the horrible leg breaks. It remains to be seen if he can keep up with the momentum.
Chris Weidman advises Conor McGregor for his comeback after breaking his leg
Leg breaks are very scary and rare instances in the UFC. In 2021, Conor McGregor broke his left tibia while fighting Dustin Poirier. McGregor and Chris Weidman are two of the most recent UFC fighters to have their legs broken inside the octagon.
Weidman recently spoke with Ariel Helwani and talked about his leg injury. Moreover, he also gave pointers for Conor McGregor who is returning from the same horrific incident.
I know he watched my fight, I think he probably learned a lot watching my fight. Some of the red flags of what to be prepared for, for whoever he fights, and also maybe you’re not going to be able to throw [the kicks] back as much as you want. Or now, be prepared that could be something you have to deal with, so really train on kicking back.Chiris Weidman via MMA Hour
At UFC 261, Weidman snapped his right leg with his opening strike against Uriah Hall. After being carried out on a stretcher, he immediately had emergency surgery. The fighter then took a lot of time to get back on his feet and make his UFC comeback. Only time will tell what the future holds for McGregor when he returns.
