In just a few days, he will step into the octagon for his first title defense at UFC 311, a highly anticipated event that has fans buzzing with excitement. Meanwhile, a heartwarming interaction between Dvalishvili and Aljamain Sterling has captured the attention of the UFC community and gone viral.
Merab Dvalishvili is well-known in the UFC community for his exceptional sense of humor and playful nature. Over the years, he has delighted fans and fellow athletes alike with a series of memorable and amusing interactions. Recently, he had a particularly heartwarming moment with former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling.
Ahead of major Pay Per View events, the UFC often uploads a vlog series on their YouTube channel that features the headliner fighters. In Episode 2 of the UFC Embedded: Vlog Series, there is a clip of Merab Dvalishvili at his home.
Interestingly, Sterling, who shares a great camaraderie with Dvalishvili, also lives in the neighborhood. In the clips, the Georgian fighter calls out to Sterling to come and watch fights, and Aljo quickly runs over from his home to join Dvalishvili.

Interestingly, both Sterling and Dvalishvili train together at the Serra-Longo Fight Team in Long Island, New York. Over the years, they have developed a mutual respect, which reflects the strong camaraderie they share. This was evident in the recent UFC Embedded Vlog Series leading up to UFC 311. Speaking of UFC 311, Dvalishvili is now set to clash against one of the toughest competitors of his career.

Merab Dvalishvili is known for his wrestling-dominated fighting style. Throughout his UFC career, he has successfully neutralized 11 formidable opponents. Most recently, he dethroned Sean O’Malley, becoming the champion of the UFC bantamweight division. Now, months later, Dvalishvili is preparing to face Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 311 in his first title defense.
Much like Dvalishvili, Nurmagomedov showcases a formidable wrestling-centric style that heavily influences his gameplay in the octagon. As their highly anticipated fight approaches, Aljamain Sterling, who has had the opportunity to train alongside the reigning UFC bantamweight champion, has shared valuable insights and observations leading up to this clash.

Merab [Dvalisvhili] is not like these other guys… There’s a method to the madness and you guys are gonna see it in a few days again. And it’s just gotta be smart, gotta be calculated, take our time…anything can happen, but I do think the odds are in our favor.
