Alexander Volkanovski coins The Korean Zombie as one of the best featherweights to ever step inside the octagon
The Korean Zombie vs Alexander Volkanovski
Alexander Volkanovski faces a very difficult challenge on April 9th as he takes on one of the finest featherweights to ever do it. Chan Sung Jung aka The Korean Zombie has a huge mountain to climb in UFC 273. The fighter will headline the pay-per-view event held at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
Ahead of his title fight, The Zombie had reached out to former two-division champion, Olympic medalist, Henry Cejudo to help in train. Triple C has agreed to train Korean Zombie and also help the fighter with trash talking ahead of the bout. Chan Sung Jung is not the first title contender that Cejudo has helped train in recent times. Triple C has also taken fighters like Deiveson Figueiredo and Zhang Weili, under his wing.
In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Chan Sung Jung explained how he was surprised by Cejudo’s fighting intelligence. “He has been helping me out so much. He’s been at every practice, every team meeting that we have. He’s actually doing sparring rounds. Super grateful,” said The Korean Zombie on Cejudo. “I didn’t realize he was so intelligent fight IQ-wise.”
“I’ve taken out pretty much all of them”– Alexander Volkanovski claims The Korean Zombie is the last featherweight legend he needs to take out
Alexander Volkanovski is one of the most dominant featherweight champions in the history of the UFC. He holds wins over almost every former champ, and his last title defense against Brian Ortega was undoubtedly the best fight in the history of the company. He is very excited to fight TKZ, and he believes it’s almost poetic, that he’s getting a fight against this legend.
In a recent interview, he said, “It’s a bit of a legacy fight, someone said the other day his last title shot was like nine years ago. His title shot against Aldo. I am like man, I just started then. You know what I mean. I was just like an amateur then, you know what I mean. This shows you how long he’s been in the game, been at the top. So, this is a guy that has been at the top of the featherweight division forever. You look at the legends of the featherweight division, he’s right up there. I’ve taken out pretty much all of them.”
