“Are you dumb?” Israel Adesanya responds to Colby Covington’s call-out to fight for the UFC middleweight title

Israel Adesanya laughs off Colby Covington's call-out

Colby Covington might have gotten a little too ambitious with his recent call out. Israel Adesanya ridicules the idea of the “Chaos” thinking he could fight for the middleweight belt next.

Israel Adesanya has been a victim of fighters thinking he is too small for a middleweight fighter. The 185-lb champ has been consistently proving his doubters wrong in every fight of his but they just don’t seem to learn. The next fighter that believes he can take out the middleweight champion is welterweight superstar Colby Covington.

“Chaos” recently said that he would come for Adesanya after his fight against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272 and in a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Adesanya gives his reaction to that call-out. “Everyone has that idea until they are across the cage from me and then it is a different beast,” says Adesanya in his sit-down with TMZ Sports.

Dana White, the president of UFC, who is a huge fan of a Covington also laughed at the call-out. The boss said, “I don’t know how you jump from not beating Usman twice to Adesanya, you know?” and the Last Stylebender resonates with the same feeling as the boss.

“But you know I say fight someone else. You can’t come straight for the champ. Who the f**k are you? I’m like are you dumb? Call someone else out,” said Adesanya on his TMZ interview. One of the reasons why Colby believes he could beat up Adesanya is because he has better cardio and all-round game in his fight compared to the champion.

Adesanya is currently lapping around the middleweight division and is coming off a title rematch win against Robert Whittaker at UFC 271. Do you think Covington could handle someone like Adesanya in the octagon?
