Beneil Dariush sees himself in Islam Makhachev and will not hesitate one bit to go into deep waters in his upcoming fight.
After a lot of chaos among who should fight for the lightweight title next, the UFC has decided to match up two of the toughest fighters in the division against each other. Beneil Dariush and Islam Makhachev will be facing each other in a thrilling five-round main event fight. The fight is likely to be held on February 26.

The winner of this fight will be awarded an opportunity to take a shot at the lightweight title. In a recent interview with RT Sport, Beneil spoke about the similar styles of fighting Islam and him have. The fighter says he is not afraid to grapple with Makhachev.
“I don’t really think about Islam. I think about me. What do I do in my fights? I am a grappler so I’m not going to be like, ‘Oh, he’s a grappler – I can’t grapple.’ Of course, I am going to grapple,” said Dariush speaking to RT Sport. Dariush is a veteran of the sport and has a record of 21-4-1 who will look to snap Islam’s winning streak.
Beneil Dariush says Islam Makhachev fighting style is a mirror image of him
Both the lightweights are known for their elite grappling. Islam against Beneil will be tested the most in the ground game. Beneil sees the similarity in both their fighting styles and thinks it would interesting to find out who comes on top. “I feel comfortable everywhere. So if I want to wrestle, I’ll wrestle. If I want to strike, I’ll strike. If I want to counter, I’ll counter. I can do all things, so I’m not worried about it,” said Dariush in the interview.
“A lot of people say we mirror each other because we are both southpaw. We are almost the same height…and If I don’t get too crazy I try to be very methodical. So there’s definitely a mirror there,” said Dariush on the similarities.
