Brandon Moreno defeated the former UFC Flyweight champion, Deiveson Figueiredo in the co-main event of UFC 263 by a third-round submission and claimed the UFC Flyweight throne.

With this win, he also settled the score for his first fight against Figueiredo which ended as a draw at UFC 256. After losing his title ‘Dues De Guerra’ aimed for a trilogy against Moreno to win his title back.

But the newly crowned champion, Brandon Moreno seems to be reluctant for the trilogy against Deiveson Figueiredo. Talking on ‘What the Heck’ this Tuesday, Moreno says,

“Maybe, The thing is, the fight was so dominant, so at least me the athlete, I’m not interested, to be honest.” Moreno also opened about the opportunity for moving to the Bantamweight division and he believes he can meet Figueiredo there.

He added, “Maybe in the future, Cody Garbrandt is there. He’s a former champ, so it can be an interesting fight. I want to see him competing at 135 to see if he can make the weight.” {H/T MMA Fighting}

Moreno and Figueiredo had a really intense faceoff during the press conference and ‘Dues De Guerra’ even shoved ‘The Assassin Baby’. But according to Brandon Moreno, Figueiredo’s confidence seems to be lost at that moment itself.

Moreno continued, “Actually, I won, and I really believe I won the fight there. I saw Deiveson different, with keeping his sunglasses and trying to distract himself, pushing me, trying so hard to be the bad guy. That was unnecessary.”

The former UFC Flyweight champion, Deiveson Figueiredo had a really bad weight cut and he stepped on the scale during the last 40 seconds. Brandon Moreno was in a real panic that time because if he would have missed weight this fight will no longer remain the title fight.

Moreno added, “If the guy doesn’t put his butt on the scale, maybe the fight can be cancelled, so I was very scared.” He also revealed his game plan against Figueiredo,

He says, “Attack the body, because we knew he cut too much weight, and try to win in the scrambles on the takedowns, and most importantly, put a lot of pressure on him, I was ready to die if necessary to get the title. I knew when I stepped into the octagon, I am the best, and that’s it.” {H/T MMA Fighting}

After becoming the first ever Mexico born UFC champion, Brandon Moreno is living his dream to the fullest. He added, “That moment was a lot of peace in my soul, Right now, I can touch my work, and that was unbelievable in that moment.”

“Today is Tuesday, and I started to feel like it’s real, but Sunday morning, Monday morning even, was like, man, this moment is surreal. Right now, I feel like Iron Man,”
