Dustin Poirier vs Charles Oliveira expected to headline UFC 269 on December 11

Dustin Poirier vs Charles Oliveira
The much-awaited lightweight title fight between Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier might headline UFC 269 in December 2021. After several outlets reported the same, MMA Fighting confirmed the news earlier today. It is being reported that only verbal agreements from athletes have been in place currently, with the contracts yet to be signed.
This will be Dustin Poirier’s second shot at a lightweight title after his failed attempt against Khabib Nurmagomedov back in September 2019. For Charles Oliveira, this will be his first-ever title defense, after having won the title against Michael Chandler at UFC 262 in May, this year.
Charles Oliveira is on a nine fight win streak!
Poirier is coming off a win over Conor McGregor at UFC 264. He had beaten the Irishman in two back-to-back fights – at UFC 257 and UFC 264. ‘The Diamond’ is currently on a three-fight win streak after his last defeat coming against Khabib at UFC 242, a couple of years ago.
Oliveira, on the other hand, is coming off his title win over Michael Chandler at UFC 262. The Brazilian became the first-ever man from Brazil to win the lightweight title since Rafael dos Anjos. He is currently on a nine-fight win streak and is undefeated since December 2017.
Can Dustin Poirier beat Oliveira to win the title for the first time? Or will it be Oliveira all the way?
