“He’s not very hittable,” Francis Ngannou’s coach Eric Nicksick thinks Ciryl Gane will be a problem in the heavyweight unification bout
Ciryl Gane and Francis Ngannou
UFC Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and his team are not sleeping on the interim champion Ciryl Gane. Eric Nicksick, the coach of Francis is expecting some challenges in the near future.
After his victory at UFC 265, Ciryl Gane became the UFC interim heavyweight champion. The undefeated heavyweight is now earned his shot to fight the champion Francis Ngannou. Ciryl has proved to be one of the most dangerous fighters in the division and team Ngannou believes so too. Gane is very technical in his approach and coach Eric Nicksick believes that he could be a “handful” for “The Predator”.
Earlier today, Eric went on the MMA Junkie Radio talking about the challenges Francis might face in Gane. He has high praise for the interim champion and thinks it could be an interesting fight. Gane defeated Derrick Lewis via TKO in the third round to become the interim champion. “I was very impressed with him to be quite honest with you,” Nicksick told MMA Junkie Radio.
Francis Ngannou’s coach thinks Ciryl Gane is very efficient
“I think he’s very efficient. That’s the word that comes to mind, is efficient. He’s not very hittable,” said coach Eric. It was very evident at UFC 265 as Derrick was not able to get one clean strike on Gane in the main event. Francis last fought in UFC 260 where he defeated former champion Stipe Miocic to become the champion. Francis was initially supposed to fight Jon Jones but then it boiled down to Lewis but then UFC pulled a wild card out of nowhere to introduce an interim title which was not received well by Ngannou.
“I wouldn’t say he feels disrespected – I don’t want to put words in another man’s mouth – but there’s definitely an edginess about him like, ‘I’m going to prove these guys wrong,’” Nicksick said. “I don’t know what there is to prove or what he has to do. He’s the heavyweight champion of the world. Gane looked great this past weekend. I know we have our hands full, but in my mind, that title is always going to run through us, and it’s ours to defend.”
