Dustin Poirier lost his second shot at the title, this time against the current lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira at the main event of UFC 269. Dustin was devastated after this loss, and many people expected him to win this one, unsurprisingly enough, the criticism came soon enough, and his former training partner turned foe, Colby Covington has something to say about him.

During a recent interview with The Schmo, he insulted Dustin by giving him the “best tap” trophy, which he himself designed, he said, “The tap trophy goes to Dustin Soirier, Louisiana swamp trash, congratulations Dustin you tapped, I mean there was a lot of great taps this year but the way you quit and put your head on the mat and got tapped out like a little bi**ch was amazing.”

Dustin is having a real struggle dealing with this loss, and he is really finding his motivation to come back inside the octagon, he showed interest in moving up to the welterweight division, and he called Nate Diaz for a fight.

Covington once again called Dustin a “quitter” and he recalled some of the instances from them training together from his interview with Helen Yee, “I just remember how much of a quitter Dustin was…oh this is too hard I don’t want to train no I don’t want to train. He just likes to train in his comfort zone, he brings in amateurs so he can spar and knockout these amateurs and feel like he’s some big tough guy because he’s just a gym boy that’s all Dustin Soirier is.

He then added, “You know personally I think I should be next you know he said some things recklessly in the media “it’s on-site” you know so when you go out there and you say these words you know and you try and get the street cred..act like you’re some bada** fighter and you’re the best in the world you need to back up those words, you need to be a man of your words.”
