UFC Columbus: Kai Kara France’s victory against Askar Askarov owed to strategic defence takedowns

At the UFC Fight Night held at Columbus, Kai Kara France continues to make splashing news, after having defeated Askar Askarov at the Main Card event.

Kai Kara-France who is currently the No. 9 ranked in the flyweight division won his third straight fight, while Askarov just got his first black mark on an otherwise unblemished career.

Round 1:Askarov’s most talked about fighting style was showcased almost on the get go, as he immediately tripped Kara-France, while trying to cement side control. He then proceeds to take control of his contenders back, while trying to look for opportunities to implement a choke. Somehow Kar-France was able to survive through the first round.

Round 2:Round 2 saw the tables turn as Kara-France immediately resorted to takedown defenses and swift punches. Despite getting knocked again, Kara-France landed some extremely heavy punches on Askarov while backing him up against the fence.

Round 3:Round 3 was definitely the decider, Kai continued to relentlessly throw hands at his opponents, with some seeming like they were just thrown around wildly. Askarov , in a desperate attempt to finish the fight, resorted to take his opponent’s back. This resulted in him just being shaken off like dust, while losing the advantage he held. Kara-France then defends his himself from being attacked while pulverizing his opponent with a series of punches.

It looked like Kara-France’s strategy paved off as the Judges handed the win to him. The thrilling unanimous decision (29-28,29-28, 29-28) showcases the comeback Kai made in comparison to the first round.

Kara-France ,who has now won three straight fights and four of his past five, has earned himself the opportunity to challenge for the UFC flyweight title.

In the Post- Fight Conference, Kai Kara-France has challenged the winner of the upcoming flyweight title bout between Current Champion Deiveson Figuierdo and Brandon Moreno. The said fight is speculated to take place in the month of July. Considering his recent win and fight streak, it shall be extremely hard for the UFC to not give Kai Kara- France a shot for the Flyweight Title.
