Tom Aspinall vs. Jon Jones UFC heavyweight title unification bout is undoubtedly one of the biggest fights on the table. The British fighter has used everything in his arsenal to get a title shot against ‘Bones’, but nothing seemed to work. However, the continuous drama around the fight gave rise to several narratives against the champion.
Jones has repeatedly dismissed a fight with Aspinall, citing his lack of star power and alleged past disrespect toward him. The entire drama around it is the current hot topic, and UFC commentator Paul Felder recently discussed this situation. He suggested that Jones may be avoiding Aspinall due to the immense pressure surrounding the potential matchup.
There is a part of Jon that is worried. And I think he’s one of those guys who really wants to keep his legacy intact and really wants to leave essentially undefeated….I also think he’s really worried about being put out and flatlined and embarrassed, and that is the last thing that we see.

Despite Jones’ claims, many believe he recognizes Aspinall’s dangerous skill set and is reluctant to risk his legacy. As a result, Felder feels that Jones is taking his time, and pricing himself out. He also mentioned that Alex Pereira was an easier opponent for Jones, which is the reason why ‘Bones’ is more interested in that fight.
In the past, MMA fans often saw Jones being defensive over his GOAT status. Few years back, he slammed online fans for putting Khabib Nurmagomedov above him on the pound-for-pound list. In his last stint as a professional fighter, it would be interesting to see what Jon Jones decides about his next fight.
Top heavyweight fighter ready to replace Jon Jones against Tom Aspinall
Tom Aspinall won his UFC interim heavyweight championship in 2023 by beating Sergei Pavlovich. Instead of fighting for the undisputed title, he had to defend his status against Curtis Blaydes. Recently, the British fighter revealed that he is ready to fight Jones, but there has been constant delay from the champion’s side.

Due to this, many fans have shown dissatisfaction with UFC for allegedly wasting Aspinall’s prime years. After Aspinall’s update, Jailton Almeida has shown interest in the fight. The Brazilian fighter is ranked #6 in the division and is ready to battle the interim champion next.
If the fight against Jones doesnt work, LETS GO Champ! Forget Gane, he ducked you before, he is ducking me now, besides that, he already lost 2-times in title fights and his last win was a robbery, lets make ASPINALL VS ALMEIDA for undisputed title.

However, for Aspinall, fighting someone like Almeida won’t do anything for his career. UFC CEO Dana White has promised fans that the promotion was working for Jones vs. Aspinall and would definitely make it happen. Everything depends on Jones and his intentions to take the big risk.
