Conor McGregor was once close to getting an exotic chimpanzee for himself. In 2015, The Notorious was in his absolute prime and had won the UFC featherweight title. McGregor was all over the media and made an appearance on the Late Night Show of Jimmy Kimmel.
During the conversation, Kimmel and McGregor talked about earning millions and buying cars. Kimmel mentioned how Mike Tyson used to have a pet tiger when he was a champion. The Irishman was a big fan of Tyson and revealed that he would definitely like to have something like Tyson did.
“Well you know a exotic animal dealer?,” McGregor asked Kimmel jokingly. The UFC superstar then went on to reveal that he would like to have a monkey or a chimpanzee in his house. “I have been really giving serious thought to getting myself an exotic animal, and a tiger would be right up there… I’d love a monkey, maybe a chimpanzee. Just a cool chimpanzee whipping around would be unbelievable as well.”
Kimmel helped McGregor to get to the decision and asked him to get a chimpanzee. The ‘Mystic Mac’ had a good laugh and promised that the next time he comes to the show will bring his new pet. ‘I’ll tell you what, I’ll come back (to your show) with my brand new chimpanzee,” said McGregor. Although McGregor never bought any exotic animals he did use his money on various other businesses and successfully built his empire.
