Colby Covington is coming off one of the biggest wins of his career against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272. The welterweight star has now set his eyes on an another massive opponent, Dustin Poirier. In a recent interview with The Submission Radio, Covington is asked why he believes Dustin does not want to take the fight against “Chaos”. Covington called out Poirier after his win against Masvidal at UFC 272.

The former lightweight title contender has made it clear several times in public that he won’t be fighting his former teammate from American Top Team inside the octagon simply because he does not want to pay him. Covington sees that as an excuse for Poirier to duck him in a real fight. “I’m his only available option. I’m calling him out because we both are free right now. Everyone else is booked right now. He is not going to fight that cripple guy with the lisp [Nate],” said Covington talking to Submission Radio.

Both Nate and Dustin have made it clear that they want to fight each other in a welterweight bout. However, the company has been hesitant to make that fight given the return of another superstar, Conor McGregor. Covington believes the only option left for Poirier is to fight ‘The Man’ , “Chaos” Covington. “He is trying to pick on a guy in the corner that has a lisp, that’s mentally handicapped and crippled. Nate Diaz is crippled mentally and physically. That guy shouldn’t even fight anymore,” said Covington.

“So if Dustin wants to pick on the crippled dude that has a lisp, why don’t you come fight the man [talks about himself]. I’m the number one guy in the division.” Dustin is coming off a disappointing loss against lightweight champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 269. That was Poirier’s second shot at the undisputed lightweight belt and failed to capitalize on it.
