Recently UFC president Dana White shared his opinion on Henry Cejudo’s call-out to fight the featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski.

Previously, Henry Cejudo who was both once a Flyweight and bantamweight champion revealed his interest in fighting for the featherweight championship against Alexander Volkanovski. He shared a clip of his show The triple c and Schmo on Twitter in which he revealed that he asked his manager to book a fight against Alex.

However, the request got rejected by the promotion and this was upsetting for the former two-division champion.

As soon as I found out Max Holloway wasn’t there, I contacted Ali and said make this fight happen… It’s not like a GSP situation where I’m gonna win and then jet out… I want to go in there and defend all my belts to see how far I can really take my body… the UFC, they don’t trust their fighters. They do not have faith in Alexander Volkanovski… Dana White is scared. I’m even sick and tired of trolling Volkanovski if the fight is never gonna happen. Why not give me an opportunity to make history and become the first three-division champ? It’s a monopoly and they control the thing.”

Henry Cejudo certainly wants to cash in on the opportunity. Alexander Volkanovski has nearly beaten everyone else in the division and Cejudo thinks he might be the best fit for the champ now.

While attending the post-fight press conference after the UFC fight night: Kattar vs Chikadze, a reporter asked about Cejudo’s call-out. To which Mr. White annoyed and responded saying:

Isn’t that guy retired? He is retired, isn’t he? I mean the last I saw he is retired and now he is mad that he didn’t get a title shot. That doesn’t even make sense. In a different weight class that doesn’t make sense.

When again asked about the situation with GSP ( GSP came and won the Middleweight title against Bisping in the year 2017 and then vacated it) and why Henry can’t be treated similarly, Dana responded saying:

Ya, so I should have jumped over everybody and given it to him because all of a sudden last week he decided he is not retired. Come on man, it’s a silly conversation. He wants to come back and win the title again in his weight class and talk about moving up or doing something else but you know just pop up somebody’s names and think that you are going to get a title shot in a different weight class when you have been retired for two and half years.”

Currently, Alexander Volkanovski is about to defend his title against the Korean Zombie after Holloway pulled out of the fight. Both the fighters will meet each other inside the octagon at UFC 273, April 9. However, it is obvious that Henry Cejudo won’t be getting the title shot unless he wants to come back and fight for contenders.
