Daniel Cormier is one of the most decorated UFC fighters of all time and has earned a great amount of respect for him in the fight community. The former UFC double champion is a sweet guy outside the ring but inside he was a beast and has dominated some of the most dangerous fighters in UFC history.
After achieving huge success inside the octagon, Cormier decided to retire from the sport in 2020 and joined the promotion as a commentator and TV analyst. DC’s knowledge about wrestling was liked by the fans and with time he became a frequent member of the commentary team. However, before all this success, DC faced some serious tragedies in his personal life.
In June 2003, Cormier’s three-month-old daughter Kaedyn was involved in an unfortunate car accident. The car crashed into the vehicle where Kaedyn was at speed and it resulted in the immediate death of the child.

The accident took place way before Cormier started his professional MMA career. Back in the day he was young and was into wrestling. In an interview with ESPN, Cormier talked about how hard it was for him when he got to know about the accident.
He said: “I called the highway patrol, and they told me that there was an accident on the highway, and they told me that people were injured, but there was only one fatality, and it was her [Kaedyn]… Just some guy being irresponsible. Not paying attention. The baby is strapped in, exactly as she is supposed to be. The guy bangs into the back of the car. She died at the scene. We buried Kaedyn in Killeen, Texas. I just remember her casket being so, so small. So small. I just remember her in the casket and just, not understanding why stuff like that keeps happening. Why does stuff like this keep happening?”
DC has also mentioned that after the death of his daughter, he was in shambles and wanted to leave combat sports once and for all. However, he took his tragedy and used it as fuel and became what he is now, one of greatest fighters in UFC history and a successful family man. He has managed to defeat some of the legends of the MMA sport the likes of Anderson Silva, and Anthony Johnson. Cormier currently has two young children, a son, and a daughter along with his loving wife.
