DC&RC believes Kamaru Usman is not in his right mind to call out Canelo Alvarez
Canelo Alvarez & Kamaru Usman
Daniel Cormier and Ryan Clark shared their thoughts on the Kamaru Usman vs Canelo Alvarez matchup during an episode of their show DC & RC.
The welterweight champion Usman has been pushing for a boxing match with current Alvarez. Canelo has multiple world championships in four different weight classes. Canelo is one of the biggest and best boxers in the world right now. The matchup between Kamaru and Canelo has shades of Conor vs Mayweather.
DC & RC talked about the potential bout during their show in a segment called tap out or tap in. Both athletes tapped out on the very idea of the fight. They agree that Canelo is at too high a level for Kamaru to match in a boxing fight. “I’m tapping out cause I care about my brother”- Daniel Cormier
Ryan Clark was very critical about Usman’s call-out, and he said, “I don’t think Kamaru Usman is in his right mind, Canelo Alvarez is probably the best boxer in the world right now…when he wants to put your lights out he will.“ However, both of them agree that it would be good for Kamaru since the fight will be the biggest payday in his career. Canelo doesn’t seem to be very excited about the idea of facing Kamaru. Canelo is at the top of his game now and he doesn’t see what he has to gain from fighting an MMA guy.

UFC President also believes it’s a bad idea for Kamaru Usman to fight Canelo Alvarez
Dana White, UFC President isn’t entirely convinced on the idea of Kamaru Usman taking on Canelo Alvarez. He even has expressed his intention of not having any cross-over fights. In an interview with ESPN, Dana White says, “I hate the Canelo fight. I mean, I don’t even have to explain it to people. Everybody knows. I mean, come on. It’s silly.”
He continued, “You can’t look at every one of these things like the Conor-Mayweather fight. It’s not gonna be like the Conor-Mayweather fight. You go out and put on one of these type of fights, and you don’t sell the way you hope it would sell then believe me, I’m not interested in that. It’s not what I do.”
“We saw it. We know what happens if a boxer comes into the UFC, and we know what happens when UFC fighters go to boxing. Especially when you’re talking about Canelo, who’s one of the best in the world, one of the best of all time. Mayweather, one of the best of all time. It’s just silly,” Dana concluded.
