Dustin Poirier

UFC Lightweight Dustin Poirier had both peaks and valleys in his 2021 MMA career, though it doesn’t count him out as an exciting draw of a fight and the love and respect from the MMA community are still right up there. Poirier, a fighter with an MMA record of 28 wins and 7 losses, was 2-1 in 2021 when he won his back-to-back fights against nemesis Conor McGregor and lost his second undisputed title fight in December when he submitted to Charles Oliveira via submission.

Now, not long ago, Poirier and UFC megastar Nate Diaz were trading words against each other on Twitter on getting ready to fight in January 2022’s UFC 270 fight card in Anaheim. Diaz and Poirier were first booked to fight back in 2018, however, the fight fell off due to some negotiation issues. As they both talked for the year 2022, Poirier and Diaz again couldn’t come to terms due to Diaz feeling underpaid by the UFC on the fight. Where Poirier goes now it’s completely up to him now.

Former interim-UFC champion Dustin Poirier, went on to Twitter to tweet “I’m in, lets go!!!”, for what he is in, we have no idea closely, but as far as our knowledge, Poirier can either be ready for Conor McGregor for a fourth fight which can be likely after all, it’s McGregor or it seems that he and Nate Diaz are going down a successful negotiation. Another wild imagination can be that maybe he signed up for a major grappling event or it’s not about his fight but his hot sauce business or his Good Fight Foundation.

What do you make of Dustin Poirier’s tweet? Who do you think Poirier should make a comeback against? Other than money fights like McGregor and Diaz, if Poirier wants to prove his worth back in the rankings, he can right away be down to fight Michael Chandler.

Chandler had teased Poirier a lot for breaking down in Poirier’s Charles Oliveira fight and getting submitted by the current UFC Lightweight Champion. That fight will be an on feet striking masterclass. But it’s up to Poirier whether he wants to come back to lightweight or not as he has expressed his struggles making 155 lbs since the fight week of December’s UFC 269.
